I've been working with the free program Open Office 1.1 and RTF files and
have found that I prefer working with Open Office over MS Word. If you're
interested, check out www.openoffice.org. Open Office also offers a
spreadsheet and a presentation creation product and all are compatible with
MS Office. Also, Open Office offers a workable Master Document feature,
which in my view, is reason enough to explore for genealogical purposes.
