You can say that again. I'm a technical writer and can vouch for the
complete inadequacy of Word's master source document.

I've been working with Open Office 1.1 for a week or so and am very
impressed with it. It's a free product (www.openoffice.org) and is quite
easy to use. In addition, it has an excellent master document feature that
anyone who is wanting to build a book from TMG reports might want to check
out.

I've been creating reports using the Rich Text Format output and opening
them in Open Office. You can also open Microsoft word documents directly.
