Since you say that you "reinstalled" TMG, my first thought is to
check that you currently have TMG as v4.0d and not an earlier version of
v4. I don't remember if there were any data format changes between v4a
and v4d, but, if so, you would see an error message that the wrong format
is being used. Also somewhere along the line, TMG changed from using the
ZIP format to a SQZ format. However, any decent
compression/uncompression package should recognize and automatically
handle either format.
Do you use WinZip or another package? If the backups were saved
in the SQZ format, check to see which program is set as the default to
work with SQZ files. I don't know if TMG has both components built in.
