Subject: [TMG] TIP OF THE DAY: Research place tag
Date: Sat, 1 Nov 2003 16:54:57 -0600
Last week, I started a new tag for research work I need to do for each
person. I created roles like MARRIAGE, WILL, DEED, CIVIL WAR and COPIED
WILL, COPIED MARRIAGE, etc. (The COPIED X tag is for when I already
have a copy of the record in my possession). But then I realized that I
tend to do research in only a few archives, and if I had a group of
these tags for each place, then I could print them out when I went to a
specific archives. For instance, during Thanksgiving I will be heading
to the Tenn Archives, so I am currently working through my mom's
ancestors, since most of them were in TN until the early 1800s. So for
them I am using the TSLA-To Do List tag. Later when I have a chance to
work on my husband's side again, I will be using the KDLA-To Do List tag
(Ky Department of Library and Archives).
I created the sentences for these tags under my special tabular
language that I use just for research type reports, so I don't have to
worry about them printing in my journal narratives.
A person could easily have a group of tags from both archives, but now
I don't have to print everyone with a To Do List tag is I am looking for
people who would only be found in TN.
