Pre-surname would often be: Doctor, Dr., Professor, or other
important identifying title.
If an individual always used 'von' (or some such) with his
name
I would include it in the surname box, not in the
pre-surname,
as in vonSchnickelfritz or von Schnickelfritz..
But how you choose to use the pre-surname and surname items
is really up to you.

Is it for prefixes such as "von"? If so, is the overall
surname sorted in lists by the prefix or by the surname
itself? In other words, would "van Gogh" appear in the
pick-list under "V" or under "G"?
