Yes, the pre-surname field is intended for things link "van", "von" "de"
"le" or any prefix in front of the name when you don't want that to affect
the sorting. Thus van Gogh, with the van in the pre-surname field would sort
under "G". The standard name style does not use the pre-surname field so you
need to create a custom style to use it. I wish the Standard style included
the pre-surname field (and the prefix field) in its output templates.
