Hi, Donald:
I have some questions, whether to help you look for a different program or
to work to improve Second Site.
1. What features do you want that Second Site does not have?
2. What do you mean by "does not read the dates from my data set as they
were entered"? Can you give an example?
3. What graphics do you want to use?
4. How would you like a feature that hides data of living persons to work,
if you do not want to hide the person entirely? What information would you
provide? If you want to select the information at the time the Web pages
are created, how do you want the selection to work?
5. I presume, when you say you "have used web page creation in other
programs", that you mean Web pages created directly by other genealogical
software. What other software works in a way that you like?
I'm on the beta team for Second Site, and the list admin for SECONDSITE-L,
so I confess to a bias. I also confess to having a list of wanted
enhancements for the program that have not all been met yet [grin]. Your
input may help. And if you can answer at least some of my questions, there
may be ways of getting you what you want, or most of it, already -- whether
via features in Second Site you may have missed, or by identifying an
alternative program, or by using TMG's own HTML output.
