I'm not sure of your point. I said that it works as it was designed (and I
designed it <g>) but you still maintain that it is a bug. I'd understand
if you don't like the design but that's different. As I understand it, you
think that TMG should assume that people are married if they are on the
same "family card" in Generations/Reunion. I'm afraid that's not going to
happen. The importer is designed to faithfully transfer the data as it is
recorded. If you don't use the means that is available to you in
Generations to assert that they were married, then I don't think that it is
reasonable to expect TMG to treat them as married. If there are cases
where you intended something that you didn't say, then I think it is
altogether proper that you evaluate and "fix" those cases rather than
expect the program to do so.
To which I reply:
My point is that, in spite of your statement, the importer is NOT
faithfully transferring the data as it is recorded. The import process has
altered my data by removing the marriage information that was implicit in
the Generations data base. Generations assumes by default that all couples
are married unless a specific choice of "Unmarried" or "Common Law" is
selected in the drop down menu in the family screen. This assumption of
marriage should be respected by the import process, even though it is not
be the way that you have designed to manually enter records in
TMG. Altering any data during import is a real no-no.
After spending most of the past long weekend identifying which records were
altered and correcting the imported data, I am not a happy camper...
