Alain,
Try this for me before you totally give up.
First go into the project and recreate the name style that you were
using on these people and see if their names come back. If they do,
then you can use John's utility to change from that name style to US
Standard for those people. If you can't remember it, you might try
seeing if John's utility will let you set the name-VAR tag style to US
Standard for all people and see if that doesn't get them back. I think
this is a rare bug that is similar to the one I have occasionally where
in the simple picklist instead of names, I just get the output template
from the name style. Using John's utility to change the name styles has
fixed that in the past for me. I only ever see the error in the simple
picklist, (and haven't seen it in a while). This could be a variation.
When you deleted the name style, TMG didn't know how to show those names
in the Picklist.

It's true that it was not the first time names disappeared.
It began with my trying to open a new database for some new people I had
found. I created a style for them, changed it several times, and finally
decided to delete it and to come back to US standard styles. At that
moment, the names disappeared from the picklist, the detail view and the
project explorer. The rest of the information was still present.
There were only some 50 people so, in the detail window I clicked on the
name tags, then on Enter, and the names came back. I had to do the same
with all the marriage tags.
When I finally decided to merge those people in my main database, names
disappeared again, but it was the 3000 names of the database, and only
in the simplified picklist.
Is there something I can do?
