Seriously, has anyone put together a definitive list of the things I have to
back-up so that, if the worst happens, I can actually recover.
Below is my definitive list. Additions or corrections are welcome.

=======================================
PROJECT BACKUP:
.sqz - includes data, filter*, and accent files
MAIN TMG5 FOLDER:
.lo - custom layouts
app.ini - settings from Preferences
custom.tbr - custom toolbar settings
If customized:
strings.dbf - language addition or changes
placeinfo.ini
placemap.ini
webother.txt
webplaces.txt
colornames.xls
.dbf - Spellcheck dictionary (internal)
.die - Spellcheck dictionary (MSWord)
REPORT SUBFOLDER:
.rpt - custom report definitions**
.vc2 - Visual Chartform charts
.xpt - Gedcom export files
THEIR RESPECTIVE SUBFOLDERS:
Any custom additions to Buttons, Frames, Graphics, Timelines, Slideshow
C:\WINDOWS\HELP:
Help annotations for VCF and TMG (.ann)
*There is a bug in tmg5.11 in the Project backup which correctly backs up
filter files but does not restore them automatically. This has been reported and
fixed for the next update. In the meantime, after restoring your project,
you can unzip the .sqz file (change the .sqz extension to .zip and use any unzip
program), extract the filter files (*.fl*) manually and copy them to your
restored project.
**If you give your customized report definitions a distinctive prefix (like
MyLOE, ALOE, etc.) they will sort together and be easier to find for backing up.
