I recall this topic being 'beat to death' a year ago, but don't recall the
consensus. I realize that there is 'no single answer' to these things, but
perhaps someone can net out the top suggestions?
Situation:
The Town of Mechanicsville existed up until 1880, then became Thurmont.
When you read old records you must use Mechanicsville, however, readers of
your work, today, look at what is said and ask, "Where is Mechanicsville?"
I hate to change it to "Mechanicsville(Thurmont)", some of the instances
would become quite large.
Just hoping that someone has a more obvious solution.
