Interesting. I do always put the original Norwegian text in the footnote,
if it is not in the main text, so that if I've somehow translated wrong my
error can be seen. (As I don't actually know Norwegian, I tend to stick to
translating the easy occupational terms.) But I hadn't thought about
changes in the language.

Most of my material at this point is from recent bygdeboks, although I do
have some census data and some cases where i get to enter material from the
Diplomaticum Norvegicum (or however it's spelled) where the spellings are
really antique. No two books seem to spell the same, though; I sometimes
wonder whether Nynorsk is in constant flux.
