Tiffany,

The good news is, it's very unlikely that you will have to hand edit anything.
In order to determine how to fix it, however, we need to know exactly what is
going on. Despite the fact that you have probably answered some of these
questions elsewhere in the thread, please answer them all here so everyone who
reads your reply will be up to date:

1) Did you transfer from FTM to TMG using GEDCOM or GenBridge?

2) Were the "Van Hoosan" surnames in the surname field of FTM?

3) How are the names stored in TMG, specifically, where is "Van" and where is
"Hoosan"? The answer to those two questions should be one of the name subfields
like "PreSurname field" or "Surname field". The "Van" could be in the Given name
subfield if it was taken for a middle name somehow.

4) When you asked how to get the names to appear properly in the index, were you
referring to an index produced by a report, or were you referring to the
Picklist, or to the Project Explorer?

If you can't answer one of these questions, please let us know and someone can
explain in more detail so you can answer.

I am certain that the time you take to help us understand will be repaid many
times over before we are done. In particular, if the "Van" is in the wrong name
subfield, there is an easy way to fix it that you probably won't find on your
own.

John
