Tiffany,

TMG Utility 5 has a "Change Name Parts" feature that can be used to move "van"
from the Given name to the Surname. I am a little uncomfortable suggesting that
course of action, however, as I don't understand why GenBridge would produce the
results you described. I've never used FTM. Perhaps a more experienced ex-FTM
person will pipe in.

Anyway, if you want to use "Change Name Parts" to move "van" from the end of the
given name to the start of the surname, here are the rules you need:

If GivenName ends with " van"
Change GivenName delete prefix " van"
And Change Surname prepend "Van "
And Change SortGiven copy GivenName
And Change SortSurname copy Surname

Please take note that the various versions of van--leading space, trailing
space, uppercase V--are important. When you input the rules above, you don't
enter the quotes, but you do have to enter the leading and trailing spaces. Read
about the Change Name Parts feature and how you set rules on the help page for
that feature:

This is one of the more complicated features in TMG Utility 5. Make sure you set
the "Log Only" checkbox until you are sure that you have entered the rules
properly and you are satisfied with the results. (When Log Only is checked, the
program will not change your dataset, but it will produce a log of what will be
changed if it had performed the steps for real.)
