Colleagues,

I have been experimenting with some sentence structures to help me as I record very repetitive marriage information recorded by the pastor. In fact I was feeling pretty smug because they were all working out so well.....NOT.

In the pastor's entry is included the names of father and mother of the bride and groom and whether they are still living or are deceased. I am trying to work up a series of roles which produce sentences indicating whether the respective parent is dead or alive so I can just list the parents as "witnesses" and get the right sentence to be produced on their PV.

Here is an example of the sentence for a father, in this case, of the bride:

[:CR:][:CR:]In the pastor's recording of the marriage of [P1] and [P2]< on [D]>, [R:Men-father], [P2FS] father, is referred to as still living.

the output desired:
In the pastor's recording of the marriage of Obbo Berg and Carrie Rykena on 26 February 1880, Ryke Rykena, Carrie's father, is referred to as still living.

What I get is:
In the pastor's recording of the marriage of Obbo Berg and Carrie Rykena on 26 February 1880, Ryke Rykena, Obbo's father, is referred to as still living.

I ALWAYS have the bride in position #2 and the groom in position #1 on the tag. I have double checked to make sure that the 2 is always associated with the female sentence. The male sentence is works.

I am sure this has something to do with my understanding (or lack thereof) of the different uses of P, P1 and PO.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Jill
