I just tried several filters based on repository number and got some
strange invalid results, although I didn't get the error you reported.

If I entered a repository number as "5" I was given a choice of 1:15 or
2:15 (regardless of the operator chosen. I selected 1:15 and the program
promptly changed it to 15.

If I entered 1:5 in the field, it changed to 15 immediately upon leaving
the field with a tab.

If I use the search tool it only displays the 1: series of repositories; if
I select, for instance number 1:153 the program installs 1153 in the
repository field of the filter. The results (comes before or comes after,
etc.) seem to agree with the 1153 figure (I have only 155 repositories in
the 1: dataset).

I have no reason to believe my installed copy of the TMG is faulty in any
way. Do others see the strange behavior of the repository number field?
