RonB,
Replying here (rather than privately) because I am sure others will try out
this process.
The Wholly Genes PDF writer has a couple of quirks, especially when used
from VCF. Some further experiments this morning has shed more light on it.
1) If you don't select to print to file, then it will use the same filename
as when the "printer" was last used with a normal other text-style report
from within TMG5 - so when using it with VCF always check the "Print to
file" *and* give the file a name with the extension PDF. I first found my
output by searching the drive for PDF files created at the current time. It
seems as if the location is likely to be "C:\Program Files\The Master
Genealogist\Reports" when both the TMG preferences are set to another
location _and_ VCF will save its VC2 files to that user-defined location.
2) If you use a custom page size (I was using landscape, 790mm * 480mm),
but to get it setup correctly enter it as Portrait 480mm * 790mm _then_
change it to Landscape. This unexpected effect is seen if you use File >
Print Preview.
However, if you are having problems in producing any PDF output from the
"Wholly Genes PDF writer", then you have a more fundamental problem than
the above issues. It sounds like a conflict between your installed
software. Do you have any other programs that install PDF writers or use
the File: port to create other outputs? I know that Family Tree Maker v11
also uses a similar driver to produce PDF output. On my system that does
not appear to be a problem.
I hope that some of this will help you.
