So these are not advertising pop-ups but look like open TMG folders? Do they
have any labels in their title bars to identify them? Or is it multiple
copies of the same window with a list of tmg folders and the word 'Open' in
the
title bar?
This a list of Windows folders that are on my computer not just TMG. I
failed to mention that pop ups only occur when in the person view and I double
click on a spouse or child to make them the focus person. I used to get two pop
ups for every time I click on a spouse or child. Now I don't see the pop ups
until TMG hangs up and I use the tree finger salute and they then appear after
TMG closes.
Using Ctrl-Alt-Del should be a last resort when closing tmg after a hang-up.
My computer itself does not hang up, just TMG. I can only minimize or
maximize TMG and then continue with the computer, but I have all these windows pop
ups to open other folders that are on top of each other that must be closed. I
never know how many I have until I start closing them.
First see if you can go to Help / Check for an Update. Click on that and
Tmg will close normally and shut down all its open files. You can cancel the
update after tmg closes. Running TMG should not be a problem with Win XP and
512Mb memory. Do you have other programs open at the same time or a lot of
icons in your task tray? Have you run 'msconfig' from the Start/Run menu to
see
what your computer is opening on startup - probably unbeknownst to you?
I cannot check for an update because TMG is dead in the water. I have
spybot that I run at intervals. I have never had any viruses mainly because I
don't use Microsoft Outlook express. "The only problem I am having is with TMG."
I have had this problem for at least the last two upgrades and a worse problem
since the last upgrade. If a problem arises with the computer I generally
know what to do, but this one with TMG has me stumped. To tell the truth, I don't
really have any problems with this computer since I have been using Windows
XP.
Can you identify any particular event or action which precedes a tmg hangup?
No, TMG is generally the only program open and from the looks of things I
am the only one having this problem so common sense tells me I have a
conflict with TMG and something else. I'll just keep trying things until I find
what's wrong or it just clears up by itself.
My main concern was if I was the only one having the problem or is it a
known problem.
