I notice that you are on AOL. Does anyone at your house use AIM? If so,
that is the cause of the pop ups. My children discovered AIM when school
got out. They and their friends had a blast IMing each other, until popups
totally locked up their computers. I was in the same room, on the same
network with them, and my computer ran fine, but theirs were constantly
crashing. Finally, we discovered that their friends were having the same
problem. Changing some settings in Norton for AIM stopped the popups, we
ran virus scans to get rid of the virus they had gotten that way, and now
they are happily IMing their friends for another 4 hours. (Bedtime, since
tomorrow is the first day of school.)

For a little more info on the pop ups, as I call them. The windows
are
actually the minimized "My Computer" window in XP. I can navigate to any
folder
or program in the hard drive from these pop ups, but I cannot open the
folders. The window must be inoperative as far as opening folders.
I transferred the upgrades to my laptop and used TMG with the same
results as the desk top. I do not use the laptop on the internet and I
have no virus
protection loaded. The laptop is used mainly as a back up for genealogy
and
finances and to take on trips. This rules out any conflict with Norton
anti-virus and any virus from the Internet.
Just thought I would elaborate in case someone else should have this
problem.
