Hi Mark
Like many users I converted from UFT. Darrell is correct to warn you about
the effect of editing. However I have not had a particular problem with
this, maybe because after Genbridging across from UFT, I cleaned up my
Master Place List to make sure the entries for say Detail or City were in
the correct corresponding place for TMG. Since then I have used F2 without
any problem, but occasionally I need to think carefully about whether or not
the existing entry is exactly what I want or whether or not I need to enter
from scratch. I would also say that I find F3 very useful for repetitive
entry of the same information(in any field, e.g bringing up an existing
source). Also F3 can cycle through the last fifteen (I think) entries.

in the Tag screen, press F2, and choose from the place list; and then, after
the place fields are filled in on the Tag screen, you edit them, you may (I
think *will*) change all Tags that had the same original field values to
agree with your edited values even if you have no intention whatever of
doing that.

certain I am going to leave **exactly** as it was. Otherwise, I enter the
data in each field from scratch. (If I thought I could select from the list,
but there is even the most minor of discrepancies, I cancel the selection
and return to the Tag.)

cause of this behavior. The Master Place List is not, in the "raw data",
what it appears to be on screen. I understand how it works, but fervently
hope that an overhaul is nearing completion!
