I would agree with John Cardinal that a significant increase in speed of
searches, etc. may not occur as you think as long as the data sets are in
the same project. This may depend to some extent on the size of the
project and the particular filters being use. That is, certain filters
will be faster than others, but even so they are still searching the entire
project. For example, if you know that your target person(s) are in a
certain data set (DS ID#) that can help. But if you are filtering say for
all persons of a surname, the filter will still search the entire project
and not just those of that data set.

See page 124 of the Users Guide. And the on-line Help also contains a an
excellent discussion for moving person(s).

If you are wanting to move a single person, it is easy. Select the person
in the Project Explorer (PE), and holding a left-click on that person,
slightly shift the mouse to the left or right until a small stick figure
person silhouette appear and then release the mouse button. Now the Move
Person(s) window appears and you may select the DS to which you want to
move the person. The click on the [OK] button. This procedure also applies
to multiple persons in the PE using the group selection procedures of the
PE filter (using the Flags you set). You can also select a Focus
Group. In addition to the mouse method I note above, you can use the
keyboard method using the Move option from Edit on the Main Menu.

Hope this helps -
