Hi Chuck and all,
I've spent the evening playing with a Roots IV (4) database that was
tucked away on a Zip disk. It actually opened up into TMG fairly well.
I just have a lot of 'notes' from Roots that have become Sources in TMG
and need to be edited and made into Tag items or memos with Sources.
While fixing this database won't be as bad as fixing the ones that came
from UFT or an old Gedcom, I still wonder if I might get better results
by going back to the Roots III database and trying it from there. Or
perhaps I need to re-open the Roots IV database with some different
instructions to TMG for handling some of the R4 footnotes.
With the current project and the sources that really aren't sources, I
need to figure out to whom each source was originally attached as a
footnote (in R4). If I could figure that out, without fishing through
pages of hardcopy, the Roots IV database would probably be ok. Just not
sure.
I'll play some more with this tomorrow but sure do appreciate all of the
offers of help from several of you. I may well be in touch privately to
follow through on some of those offers.
Meanwhile, have a great weekend.
Laurie Taylor

Laurie,
I still have TMG 4 (actually 4.0d) on my PC, and I
will convert that Roots III data for you if you wish.
Contact me off-line.
I understand what you mean about the frustations of
UFT.<vbg> I believe TMG is truely the best choice for
anybody who has used UFT.
Chuck (who has, but doesn't now use, UFT 2.8)
