Laurie,

I used Roots3 for a number of years and was very happy with it. But the
time had come to move on. Recently, I have been moving over to TMG 4.0d,
beginning with one of my data bases. I did the import and found that for
the most part everything was imported as I would have wanted.

One exception was that in my Roots3 notes, I had included citations of the
Roots3 ID number of persons, and these were not well handled. For example,
for the "Born" item, I might have included in the Note, "Named for mat
grandmother 00499, & grt aunt 00495". In Roots3 reports, the two numbers
are recognized as references to the names of the persons specified and this
would yield the names of those persons in the reports. I found that in the
TMG import, in all cases, the imported number was not identified with the
person, but was just imported as a number. Of course, this required manual
clean-up after importing. Otherwise, the process went rather well.

I still had to do a certain amount of refinement in order to sequence
events properly, and to achieve other effects which resulted from the
richness of TMG in handling details, but I expected this to happen.

After a bit more experience with this first data base, I will soon import
my other data bases, one by one, and continue with their clean-up.

Good luck with your efforts.
