Thank you to Terry, Lee, Walt and John for the fast replies to my query.
It is MUCH appreciated that these guys are willing to share their
experience with us all - in the long run it is our research and our time
that benefit.
Terry gave me (us) the insight that was behind my problem, on copying Vs
moving people (as per the TMG User Guide), which left those people in
the original data set - not what I wanted. I should have looked up the
On-Line Help, which includes info on MOVING people.
My data set is not large by comparison to others (18000 people), and I
appreciated Lee's test on 40000 people - demonstrating that a single
project still runs pretty fast!
What had given me the idea of splitting the One-Name Study was Bob
Velke's demo during his workshop down here in Sydney last year, when his
full project ran much slower that a data set portion of it: but of
course, it obviously depended on the number of recorsds in each.
All in all I hope others in the List have gained something from my
question, as did I, and surely that is the idea of the List?
In conclusion, I've decided to stay with my Filters to work on
portions/lines of data, rather than split it up into separate data sets.
Thanks again guys, for your inputs!
