Given that VCF does have an Export function, and EMF is a
possibility, I don't think I'd ever use a screen cut&paste -- There is too
much of a chance that a screen cut&paste may only copy the visible data at
the screen resolution (typically 96dpi) while Word's print resolution may
assume an image should be 150dpi or more (ie, I don't know if the cut&paste
transfers in a scalable vector format or as an image).
Having said that, however, I should also state that the last time
I produced a printed volume I was using TMG4.0, and don't even remember if
the VCF of that era /had/ export... I'd had to print the charts
stand-alone, and rig blank pages in Word to keep the page numbers correct.
Okay, as a test...
I generated an Ancestor tree (7 generations). It came up in VCF
using 6 sheets of US-Letter (it was roughly 14"x26").
I selected everything in VCF, scaled it down to 10" tall (about 6"
wide) -- which fits 1 sheet of US-Letter. Granted, the text is practically
impossible to read (I can read the names with a magnifying glass, but the
dates/places are under 6pt, and only legible if you know what it meant to
begin with).
Exported as EMF format.
Opened Word.
Insert/picture/from file; the EMF came in and fit the page; no
strange scaling, no cut-off data.
