I tried the censustools a few years ago and found that, for me, it was extra
work and duplicated my tmg entry. I now use the last 4 place boxes in tmg to
enter census info and then print it in a table from within tmg5 using the List
of Events. You can see the result at:
http://www.geocities.com/vablake2000/Census/census.html
In this case I printed the List of Events report to WordPerfect in Ascii
delimited with Tabs and converted into a table. Sometimes I send it to Excel and
open in Quattro Pro. Or most often I just print to screen, landscape.
This method involves:
- Making a census entry for each person in the census (I use Copy Tag)
- Assigning a unique number to each enumerated person; I use the source
number plus a,b,c,... and put that in the L9 place field. This sorts the household
together and in order of enumeration.
- putting the age/birth info in L8 place field in the format: age 51 (c 1844
CT)
- putting the occupation in the L7 field.
I like this method because I can sort the census info by household, by year,
by person.
