My 2 censts also. Please note that the terms original and copy just don't
have the same meaning they used to. Except for a few instances such as many
years ago when the library of Virginia was still letting you look at original
records in a separate room under the vigilant eye of a library assistant, almost
every record I have seen is some sort of a copy or transcription. The
Archives in Washington used to let you look at original pension records which one
had to handle with great care but they finally got them all on microfilm. They
were getting pretty dog eared as I remember. Birth and other records seem to
be considered "original" now a days if they contain a raised seal from the
clerk. I often wonder if they even still have my "original" record. Frankly I
just don't use the term "original" anymore and essentially call any record I
may have a "copy"-Dale
