It is most likely a wireless (802.11b) connection, not infrared, as infrared
has a very short range and does not go through walls.

Do you use wireless for your own network? If not, you should probably
disable wireless in your PC. If you do use wireless you need to enable it in
a secure mode, requiring a password, to log on the network.
