Hi, Juergen,
First, I want to thank you for taking the time to investigate this issue as
the limitations built into the relationship calculator do not appear to be
discussed in the user's manual. Indeed, the language in the help index is
misleading. If you look at the topic "relationship calculator" in the program
help index, here is what is written: "The Relationship Calculator will
determine all blood relationships between two designated individuals in the data set."

Obviously, not "all blood relationships" are being calculated. Under the
circumstances, I would like to suggest that either the help index (and
eventually the user's manual) needs to explain the limitations or the algorithm needs
to be rewritten. (My preference would be to rewrite the algorithm,
especially since FTM can manage it.)

For now, I'll have to rely upon FTM to find all the missed, biological
relationships. Again, thank you for explaining this.
