Hi, Fran:

Correct. The archives management software is much more complex than most people would anticipate. Occasionally, there are glitches. In some cases, erroneous dates are assigned to archived messages. This has to be dealt with by a paid RootsWeb staffer, in most cases. Inevitably, a few problems fall through the cracks. If you see a *systematic* error of that kind, that might hinder users from finding things, contact staff at:

http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/form1.html

Select the Area "Mailing Lists". Be clear and specific, with examples, especially the message ID number if possible.

FWIW, the first month with significant traffic on TMG-L was July, 1999. There were 1,471 messages posted that month.
