Mine says it's a 17" WXGA high Definition monitor. My old layout in TMG
took up less than half the screen when I moved it over. So I really feel
like I have more room. For the price, I am glad I got the new laptop. TMG
runs so much faster. I can now easily use the Expanded Picklist. That was
nearly impossible on my older machine.

Brian,

Actually when I saw her say she bought a 17" monitor, I assumed she meant a
CRT monitor and not an LCD monitor. BIG difference in price. Also a 17"
LCD monitor is more like an equivalent 19" CRT monitor as far as screen real
estate. (Because they measure things differently between the two types)

Just checked, about the cheapest you can get a 17 inch LCD monitor is about
$225 in the US now. (But it depends on make and model, most still are in
the $300's and $400's)

Not sure if the use of two monitors has been covered - Most modern graphics
cards support TWO monitors.

I saw 17" LCD monitors here in Oz for $450 today so US must be very cheap.

TMG across two such monitors is AWESOME - but you can also have TMG on one
and other documents on the other.

If you are really keen a second PCI graphics card can be added to the PC and
a third monitor used - this will normally be restricted to 1024 X
768 but is useful for source documents or to watch your email client.

On or about 12/27/04 16:17 a carrier pigeon from Teresa Elliott
delivered:
>Well, I went shopping and I found the perfect computer with a 17"
monitor.

windows

<snip>

>it, definitely splurge on the monitor.

I guess I'm spoiled... 17" is puny -- top-end LAPTOPs are getting
displays almost that size.

I've been using a 20" Trinitron monitor since the days of
W95OSR2... Even kept the monitor when I replaced the computer. (Those were
the days when the monitor added $800 over the cost of the stock 14" -- and I
can't justify another $800+ for a large flat-panel.)

I find I could use a slightly larger monitor to give me more room
for my overlapping applications.

Then again... give it a year, and you'll want something larger,

too <G>
