I think you are talking about using the Report menu here. There's an
easier way. From the View menu, add the Reports toolbar to your layout
(save the layout if you want it to be there next time you open TMG).
The first button on that menu is a preview report, which opens to the
report with just one click on the screen.

If some of the settings in the preview aren't to your preferences,
from the Report menu open the Individual Narrative, then select the
Preview from the Configurations, change any options you want, and save
the revised report definition. The preview will now use your settings.

If you prefer a different report style than the Individual Narrative
as a preview (I prefer a Journal), or if you just don't want to take
the room for the whole reports toolbar, add your favorite report to
the custom toolbar. If you check the "Bypass the Report Definition..."
option at the bottom of the General tab of Options, it will run with a
single click of the toolbar button, like the standard preview report.
