The brackets are included in the definition quite happily, it's just that
the parameter input screen was also making the brackets invisible as well as
the input letters.
Non bracketed parts of the query are showing as raised boxes
Bracketed parts with recessed boxes, but not brackets in the box

Anyway, I see that the invisible ink issue has been reported now and I
suspect it is an aspect of the same issue.

There is a known problem of invisible letters when typing in the values for
[?] in a filter. It has been reported. If you left arrow once or tab out of
the field, the letters pop into view.

The recessed boxes are positioned in the filter where brackets might be
applicable. You have to tell the filter where you want the brackets by
clicking on
the respective boxes; then the actual symbols should appear. If they don't
appear, then that may be a new problem.
