I am unsure where you may be seeing Tag Sentences that appear like you say,
but the default Tag Sentence as installed for the Burial Tag is:
[P] was buried <[D]> <[L]>
Thus the resulting sentence in a narrative report would be something like:
He was buried in 1984 in Machpelah Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky.
Now if the Date entered in the Burial Tag is equal or before the Date
entered for the Death Tag then the Burial Tag (and its sentence could
display/print before the Death Tag. There are two ways that you can change
this - (1) Enter the date of the Death with a modifier of "after" or (2)
enter a Sort Date that is a later date than the Death Date. Either of
these would still be correct information and ensure the Burial Tag and its
Sentence would pint after that of the Death Tag. Since the Sort Date
_never_ prints, you would not have to be concerned about that.
Similarly the default Tag Sentence as installed for the Education Tag is:
[P] <was|and [PO] were> educated <[D]> <[L]>
with a printed sentence something like:
He was educated between 1904 and 1907 at Transylvania College ,
Lexington,
Kentucky.

Finally, I am guessing that your data was probably imported from some other
program in which all events are assigned to a person regardless of whether
they applied. In other words, each person had a Death event although it
may have been blank. Usually such data does not import to TMG unless you
have selected an import option that causes such import anyway.
This import may also be the cause of the various anomalies you note about
odd Sentences. If you have not done a lot of work in the data set since
import, you may want to go back and re-import the data again using
different import option settings. You may even want to do several imports
with different setting and see how each affects the import and which gives
you the best import for your data.
On the other hand, if you do not want to lose the work you have done in the
data set since import, it may be that you simply want to edit the Tag
Sentences to return them to the installed defaults. As for being killed
off, simply delete the Death Tag for those that are still living.
Hope this helps -
