Go through that scenario again - and at the point where it freezes, go to the
Windows menu and click on 'Center the current window'. When you click 'any
angle', tmg opens a small window for you to enter an angle number. In your
case (I think) that window is hidden behind the image or the layout. The
program is not frozen, it is waiting for a response from you.

After you run through this sequence one time using 'Center the current
window', the problem seems to be fixed permanently. At least it was for me.. Let
me know if that works for you.
