If you really want to read a web site that is rather official (what could
be more "official" than something from the Greenwich Royal Observatory
<g>), go to <http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/info/calendar.htm>;. This is
quite an extensive treatment of calenders including short treatments of
Jewish, Chinese, and Muslim calendars. I have not looked lately, but it
used to also have a discussion of the Aztec calendar which is supposed to
be more accurate that any of the others than most others including the
current Gregorian calendar. As for references, the pages on the site were
developed by professionals at the observatory, so if you want credite,
there is a full page of them. <g>

The end result of all of this is that none of the calendars we use are
accurate. So, as Allen Mellen said ....
