Thanks to Barbara at Wholly Genes -- and to everyone else who pitched in to try to help me. There is a known V.6 technical issue with Journal Report when the "Suppress details for living people" option is selected. Next software release will include the fix (yeah, I know, but it beats having to fix the operator!). Thank you one and all.

Do you have suppress details for living people selected? If you do, this
is a known problem with the Journal Report in TMG 6. It has been fixed and
will be in the next update. And, no, I do not know when the update will be
released.
In the meantime, save the Journal Report to your word processor and edit. Ugh!
