I really was looking forward to the ability to customize the records it
looked up and find this much more handy. For instance, I am currently using
the Lunenburg County, VA deed index. I did a search in TMG and got 8
surnames. Since GenSmarts also figures where a person might be, it picked
up 1 more person. I do hope that someday, it will be able to tell if a task
or tag has already been created, but for now, it is really helping my
research and I am thrilled Bob and Aaron are working on the two programs
together.

Thanks, Teresa. This is an interesting idea.

I have struggled with GenSmarts and its propensity to list the need for
census data that I already have.

I have been playing around with the latest version of Gensmarts and wanted
an easy way to create research tasks for all the people it gave me for a
certain Microfilm roll.

This is what I realized would be easiest. First I created a person called
Gensmarts. I created the first tag I wanted, since I like my research tasks
to be alike for each person on that roll, I then created the task attached
to that tag and the right repository. Once that was done, I copied the tag
the number of times I had people meeting the criteria. Then once all the
tags were created, I opened each one and put in the right ID number. Much
easier than going to each person, creating the tag, task, etc. So I thought
I'd share with those of you who might be using the new GenSmarts with TMG to
find everyone in a certain book, or roll of film.
