Not sure, but you can use John's utility to change any places using that
place style to another style and then you can delete the first style.

Sometime back, I created a Place Style that I now want to delete. I know
how
to delete it, but when I go to Tools>Master Style List>Places and highlight
that Place Style and click the delete button........a pop-up screen informs
me
that "2 places use this style....".

Can I find those 2 places where that Place Style is in use, before I delete
the Place Style?
