Linley,
Letting you know I did get it this time. <G> Don't worry about sending it
publicly. We all think SS and TMG are great, and realize that from time to
time users have problems.
Error -1 from CTMGStyleFormatter
Parish if different is invalid in "<[Addressee], ><[Detail], ><[town/city],
><[Parish if different], ><[State], ><[Country], ><[Postal], ><[Phone],
><[LatLong], ><[Temple]>" for style Addressee, Detail, City/Village, Parish
if different, State, Country, Postal, Phone, LatLong, Temple
What it is telling you is that your place style, PARISH IF DIFFERENT has a
place that does not match the output template. Can you delete PARISH IF
DIFFERENT? IF you can EDIT it, tehn it looks like you need to correct the
third place element. Your drop down box says [town/city], but your output
template says [City/Village]. They have to match exactly for SS to use
them.
The reason I had you repost it is one I really did miss it, and two, this is
a common problem. I had it too, and I figured that was what the problem was.

Attention John Cardinal & Teresa Elliott (John who appears not to have
received the original message and Teresa who asked for details of the
problem and couldn't find my message in the archives).
Below is a copy of the original email to John at
on 6 March. The subsequent message on the TMG list was briefer and posted
on 16 March local time (remember we in Australia are nearly a day ahead of
parts of the US). I have added that one below the first copy. John Cardinal
did reply promptly when I re-posted my query on this list and directed me to
WhollyGenes support. Thank you John.
I am sorry this has become public - I think TMG & Second Site are great
programs and would hate to give a negative impression. I am aware of the
many things that can go wrong with emails and uploads, so when specific
requests for confirmation of receipt appear to be ignored, I was forced to
use this forum.
Barbara and Jim have both replied, so I'm sure it will be sorted out soon.

Copies of previous emails.
Hello John
Firstly, thank you for your marvellous programs to complement TMG.
However I have struck a problem.
Occasionally in TMG (especially in the beginning) when I edited the place
details in an event or the place list, a box would pop up with a style of
addressee, Detail, etc. Obviously I accepted this at some stages and some
times. I had also obviously modified this style.
At some stage (I think) I deleted that listing when I saw it in the custom
styles by just removing the fields from the list.
All continued to work well in TMG & Second Site.
However in the previous version of Second Site (and the current one), I
found that I could not create new Second site files because of the following
message:
Error -1 from CTMGStyleFormatter
Parish if different is invalid in "<[Addressee], ><[Detail], ><[town/city],
><[Parish if different], ><[State], ><[Country], ><[Postal], ><[Phone],
><[LatLong], ><[Temple]>" for style Addressee, Detail, City/Village, Parish
if different, State, Country, Postal, Phone, LatLong, Temple
This message or similar appears in both TMG utility and Second Site.
The offending style appears in my TMG style list but I cannot edit or delete
it. When viewing the style, there is nothing in the 'city' field.
I tried to overcome the problem by creating a new project containing a new
dataset which had been merged with the corrupt file. This appeared to work
at first but now every time I try to edit the data, the program freezes or
the pop-up new style appears. This was on a second computer. So I still
have the original project which works well except that Second site rejects
it. I have also re-installed TMG6 with no effect.
As it's time I updated my site, any suggestions would be much appreciated.
TMG list posting 16 March:
My TMG database has a corrupt place style (which is not used) but not
available to edit or delete under place styles (like the standard US style).
When I try to use TMG Utility or Second site, I get the following message:
Error -1 from CTMGStyleFormatter
Parish if different is invalid in "<[Addressee], ><[Detail], ><[town/city],
><[Parish if different], ><[State], ><[Country], ><[Postal], ><[Phone],
><[LatLong], ><[Temple]>" for style Addressee, Detail, City/Village, Parish
if different, State, Country, Postal, Phone, LatLong, Temple
This means I can't change places to a new or different style and I am unable
to update my web site. Within TMG the problem is not obvious although it
occasionally tries to create a new 'style' - addressee etc (the default
labels) when editing tags.
I have used file maintenance, created a new database and merged the old
data, but the problem remains/returns.
Any suggestions?

Linley,
I never saw an e-mail directly from you. There are spam and anti-virus
filters at my mailhost and on my own PC, so it's possible that your message
was automatically deleted.
