I think that's the difference between someone who records the facts and a
genealogist. The genealogist cares about the process of getting to that
point. What went into the decision to join the army in the middle of the
civil war? How did the wife at home cope? How did she feel when his body
was brought back home?

Subject: [TMG] Thoughts on Adding a Wife
When you click add a wife or add a husband do you think about all that went
into that process?
the first date, the holding of hands, the first kiss, the first flowers, the
long conversations, his express his dreams, she listening with sparkling
eyes and accepting those dreams, the asking, the accepting, the telling of
parents, the wedding, where to have it, the dress, the maids, the vows, the
ring, the honeymoon, the first night.
When you click add a son or daughter do you think prior to that was: the
conception, the telling of the husband, telling the parents, the growing
belly, the anticipation, the pain, the birth, then boy or girl, what do we
name him or her, then feedings and diapers?
These are what I (a guy) think when I click the buttons. So easy to click
the button. So much involved behind the button. (Please forgive any
sexism. It wasn't intended to be demeaning.)
Just some thoughts as I happily add to my data base.
