Others have already pointed out that you can't accent tags. As I was writing
this, Richard pointed out that you can achieve a similar effect by using
dummy "census people" -- see Diane Begeman's page for the method I've
adopted: http://home.earthlink.net/~djebegeman/tmg/Census.htm.

I'll point out, though, that while I like the method and continue with it
for many reasons -- ease of creating census reports, on-screen county census
lists, etc. -- I have not found it effective as a method of highlighting
"missing census years" as I'd hoped. The reason is obvious, once I think
about it: some decades will generate virtually no documentation (e.g. early
in life) which means census tags will be very close together. Other decades
will generate copious amounts of data, which makes the census tags look
farther apart on screen than you might expect. Since there isn't any regular
spacing for tags, it's not really useful for spotting irregularities.

I've tried two alternate methods of highlighting missing census entries for
people. The first was to create Flags to track whether census data had been
located or should be searched. The other is to generate research tasks for
census searches. Of the two, I've found tasks much more useful. I was
continually forgetting to update the census Flags, and they were two small
and out of the way to serve as an effective reminder. Tasks aren't "in my
face", but they are there when I actually *need* them -- when I'm
contemplating or organizing a research foray.

Hope this helps.

Subject: [TMG] Accent for a specific tag

Read through Terry's notes, the manual and GTMOOTMG and don't quite grasp
how to do what I want. I would like to have the "Census" tag always have
its own accent color, so that it is easy to spot the missing census years
for any person. I want this to be an automatic part of every new census tag
(am not too fussed if I have to go in and individually adjust existing tags,
but it would be nice to do them in one fell swoop, as well). Accents are a
new trick for me (just set up a "Clean" flag with an ugly red accent as
recommended by Terry's site and it works great), so want some help to get my
head around how or if they work with tags.

Thanks,
