Thank you to those who answered (publicly and privately) and helped me out
with this .
Bottom line answer (with help from you all and my experimenting around):
-1- There is no separate research file. The research tasks and log and
part of (contained within) the Project files and cannot be moved/addressed
separately.
-2- The only way to carry the research file along on a laptop is to install
TMG to the lap top and then move the Project Database from the home computer
to the laptop when going out to do research.
-3- The installation of TMG is easy and the program can stay on the laptop
and home computer without any problems.
-4- There are two ways to then transfer the data from the home computer to
the laptop in order to keep them both current.
A. Either do a full backup and restore of the data and settings -- and then
install the backup on the other computer, or
B. Copy all the Project Files from one to the other.
NOTE: Doing this not only allows one to take their Research Tasks & Log to
the library -- but actually their entire tree and database too.
Thanks again. It's working great!
Jay
