Astrid, perhaps you missed the last sentence where I commented on the
possibility of using variables to make a usage by usage variation.
I will repeat that I believe that the caption and description needs to be in
the Master Exhibit record and not the Exhibit link. I say this because one
of the major motivations for a Master Exhibit List is the person who has
many people attached to a single exhibit with identical information, and the
desire that one be able to edit in one place and be reflected everywhere. If
you do this the all identical can have his needs meet and if you want
distinct fields you haven't lost anything as you can still make multiple
exhibits like you currently do.
If you now add more information to the Master Exhibit record you get back to
the problem of duplicated information.
That goes back to my last statement, the adding of variables to the
caption/description. If the exhibit link as a memo field, then you could
make the caption something like: Graduation photo of [EM1], class of 1920
Mudville High School. ([EM2]).
(Where EM1 is the first part of the memo field of the exhibit link, etc.
Maybe EM1 could be replaced with [W] if this exhibit would always be
connected to a tag/person.
With Exhibit Link Memos I think it would meet the needs of both groups.
