Hi, Richard:
Then you are not storing the "actual" caption
in a master record, and I don't have to get
red in the face so much [grin].

An "exhibit", which is the *use* of an Image in
relation to a person, a Tag, or ?, can't have
a Repository, but an Image can.
I suggested "Repository" as part of my "MIL".

This approach, which stores the caption in
with the *link* information (in what you call
an "Exhibit Memo") looks fine to me. It sounds
much like my "default caption with (possible)
local override" suggestion, a parallel to
TMG's current approach to sentence output.
What I understood you to be saying in your
earlier message was that the caption that is
actually used in each link context would be
stored in what you called a "Master Exhibit
List". I am opposed to that approach. What
you have set out now is radically different
in fundamental ways, even though it might
not seem to be. It looks workable.
