Hi, Teresa:
Correct on all counts. I would further comment that what makes the "Title" *field* belong in the MIL is **that** it does not change from link to link. If it does change from link to link, or could, then the field should be stored in the link record. If most users and developers think the "Title" field is for information that could change, then by all means "move" the field, including its name "Title", to another kind of record.
Yes, we are talking about a rewrite. I think a rewrite would be necessary to significantly improve the functionality of the Exhibit Log / Exhibit Manager. I'm not sure that improving the functionality is a high priority for enough people, but I would like it.

Ah, I am starting to see how your idea would work.
I'd have my MIL (not to be confused with Mother In Law) with
Photo 1:
Photo 2:
Deed Scan A:
Deed Scan B:
Will Scan A:
Photo3:
Each would have a Default Caption, but that could be overridden at the
"local" level when attached to a person, tag, source, place, or repository.
I am assuming the Title would be default in the MIL, since it would not
change.
I'd have the photos and scans anywhere on my hard drive (Or hopefully
someday, DVD drive) and the pointer in the MIL would point to that location
on the hard drive.
I'd only need one pointer, because I could customize the caption at the
local level for each Illustration.
This sounds great, but doesn't sound like improvements to the old system,
but instead a major rewrite.
