While I as well as many members of this list would as soon that this
discussion end, it is a valid (at least by some) discussion. It relates to
TMG and some members honestly do not understand either the why or how of
the way TMG handles dates. Yes, much (if not all) of this discussion may
be found in the TMG-L Archives -- two or three or more times!
However, until now, all discussion has been civil and of an understanding
nature. Those knowledgeable have pointed out how TMG actually handles
dates and how other programs handles similar dates. Some of these have not
necessarily agreed with either of these positions but just made the
point. Those debating the need for change have replied in an equally civil
manner although with less acceptance of the facts.
The facts are that TMG handles dates in a specific way. It has been stated
that the way dates are handled is not likely to change. Yet some still
present the same old arguments and those understanding the situation reply
using the same old arguments. It is a circular argument and no one is
likely to change the mind of the other.
As far as I am concerned, all that can be said has been said. So the
discussion probably should end. However, as I said, it is a legitimate
argument and if anyone wishes to continue the discussion making the same
old points, I have no objections (as List Administrator) as long as the
discussion remains civil.
On this, as well as any other topic on TMG-L, anyone calling names of a
person or groups of person shall be subject to removal from the list. This
is not new, but only a repetition of a long-standing rule.
