A list member asked, while I'm on the soapbox <g>, that I should remind
everyone to let their messages be as brief as possible. The main complaint
is that those quoting a prior message should only quote as much of the
message as is pertinent to their reply. If a message is longer than a
paragraph or so then you can usually delete those parts of the message that
do not directly pertain to the point you wish to clarify or question or
discuss. In some cases, you may find it hard to cut much of the text of a
message and that is okay. But this does not include signatures, taglines,
and such. All the stuff at the bottom of a message does NOT need to be
quoted. Yes, all of us sometimes forget, or a message gets away from us a
bit before we realize the cuts need to be made. But please try to cut back
on the extra unneeded text.

At the same time, let me also ask those having signature blocks over five
or six line to please use a different, shorter signature block. our
signature block does not need to include your e-mail address (it is already
in the From header of the message) and it does not need to contain all
those surnames that you are researching (maybe just the ones you are
currently most interested in). There are other things that are probably
not needed (in various opinions). Your and my ideas may differ. In either
case, please try to keep your signature block to five lines or less.

Thanks -
