How did the Census staff keep tabs on when the people were enumerated.
In the US in many Census years the date the enumerator called on the
families is shown on the actual sheets.

In the 1901 Canadia Census on Schedule 2, the date of enumeration was
shown . I think in 1911 the dae wa also indicated in one of the columns.

the 1881 Census images are not on line so I cannot check them.
