Peggy,

I did an internet search today just to make sure I wasn't too far off on the
numbers... Palm and PocketPC were pretty much neck and neck in 2004 prior to
Quarter 3 at which point Pocket PC's outpaced the Palm. (According to
Gartner - of course these studies can twist the numbers around more than one
way)

The number of current programs for each platform is hard to quantify, no
doubt that historically more programs have been written for the Palm,
they've been around longer than PocketPC's and were wildly successful for
years. My point is that with up to date current programs the difference is
probably not that significant between the two. You're going to find plenty
of programs for either platform and pretty much anything you need to do you
can find for either.

I don't get all religious about Palm vs. PocketPC either. (Reminds me too
much of the old OS/2 vs Windows "war") Hopefully there is competition for
whatever platform is popular whether it be PocketPC, Palm or ?. Otherwise
things start to stagnate and prices tend to rise. No doubt PocketPC's
wouldn't be where they are today if Palm wasn't there to keep Microsoft
"honest".

I pretty much know all of that and am not partially to either the Palm or
Pocket PC.
They were neck in neck for sales in 2004. I'll find the table of info that I
use in my PDA classes if you would like to see the statistics. The fact is,
there are still numerically more programs for the Palm. That may very well
may reverse in the future and then I'll be going Pocket PC.
